Stage curtains revealing a star and the words Leader Sneak Peek

Your best comms channel

This week, my subscribers heard about a magical secret tool I use when I communicate change in any organization.

I call it my Leader Sneak Peek - it works really well and may feel magical when you start to use it - it's not actually magic (shocker, I know). It's practical, helpful, empowering, and will immediately impact any change you are implementing for the better.

What is it?

My Leader Sneak Peek is a packet of information that goes out to people leaders and trusted team members in your organization BEFORE a project launch announcement.

Why use a Leader Sneak Peek?

Because when you share information with leaders at the same time as the announcement - questions that come in immediately after the launch are usually answered with, "I don't know yet" or "I just heard what you heard." Not super inspiring - right?

By sharing the sneak peek, leaders are able to confidently respond to the questions they hear, and if they need more information - they know exactly where to go to get a quick response. This makes leaders feel better - because they know what to say. Also, the team feels like their manager knows what's happening - which means they don't have to stress or worry.

What's in it?

When I create a leader sneak peek I always aim to include some of the basics, but depending on the complexity of a project, it may be a bit more or less. Here's what I'd consider the minimum:

  • What's changing - focus on the results and outcomes

  • Clear talking points

  • Answers to expected questions (FAQs)

  • Rollout schedule: key milestones and leader expectations

  • Point of contact to get quick answers

Who sends it?

Ideally, the project leader or sponsor - whoever has the clout to get an email read. Second choice, the PM or project leader who will have the answers anyone needs.

Now you have a new magic tool in your kit - go amaze your peers and colleagues!
